Architecture is an ancient art and is about universal considerations that do not change with time. It is not about being an expression of its age. It is about our understandings of what it is to be human. The silent space that it contains is its meaning.

Design is, as from the Latin prossesus, a going forward. A moving from that which is not yet to the concrete and specific.

Design is ultimately about the particular but it begins with observation and reflection. Reflection on our human condition and the nature and possibilities of dwelling in this place. This site, be it on the ground or in the sky, in the city or in the country.

Regardless of the final purpose each place is pregnant with possibilities. Possibilities through which to illuminate the beauty of life and of existence, and in doing so to enrich the lives of those who dwell within it.

The discipline of design is to reflect on all the considerations to be accommodated in order for the new spaces to serve fully.

Design is not a linear process of logic, but rather a surrounding of the problem from all sides and resolving it in every dimension simultaneously.

Design moves from the universal to the specific.
