DRAWINGS
I have drawn since before I could walk. It is simply part of seeing. I cannot live without drawing.
I never know before I start what I am to draw. Its only once the pencil touches the paper that it takes a life of its own. My hand moving. Tracking in space, with eyes, with consciousness together. In unison capturing the magic and beauty of the reality before me.
When you draw at some level you become detached. Like an outsider observing the nature of things. Striving to understand the inner structure.
To capture in a simple line the essence. Drawing is how we show others what we see.
And then the pencil stops. It has said what it has to say. I am always amazed to observe what it has done in the moment. And once it’s done it is done. It is no longer part of me. The drawing has a life, an existence, of its own.
Creation is what makes us uniquely human.
